  • Speakers and Programming Curators

    TEDxCUNY is looking for curators to work with our Speakers and Programming Team. This position is for individuals with a passion for ideas, storytelling, and an excellent work ethic. A commitment to highlighting CUNY's students, faculty, and staff and a familiarity with the style of TED talks is a must. Responsibilities include identifying potential speakers, working with speakers to edit their talks, and curating other aspects of our mainstage content. While not required, students who are part of the graduating Class of 2019 or lower are preferred. Click here to view required application materials for the Speakers and Programming Curator position.

  • Logistics and Audience Experience Curators

    TEDxCUNY is looking for curators to work with our Logistics and Audience Experience team. Curators should be creative individuals with a passion for innovation, event planning, community outreach, and curating spaces. Responsibilities include planning potential workshops, exhibits, and partnerships that will feature independent or community-based artists, organizations, businesses, etc. on the day of the conference. The curator team is also responsible for SWAG bags and the run of show.   • Director of Media and Marketing

    Responsibilities for the Director of Media and Marketing include drafting, publishing, and pushing official press releases to CUNY-affiliated and New York media, organizing a press kit, and securing media attendance. The Director, acting as Press Secretary, will ensure that news about the conference remains positive.   • Graphic Designer

    As part of the Media and Marketing team, the Graphic Designer will develop TEDxCUNY’s brand and create promotional materials. They are responsible for creating visual concepts to communicate ideas that will help inspire, inform, or captivate our TEDxCUNY community. They will develop the overall layout and production design for advertisements, brochures, and the conference’s program. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is required.   • Animator

    The Animator will work under the Media and Marketing team to help develop TEDxCUNY’s brand and create promotional materials. The animator should be able to produce sequential images of drawings, puppets and models that will be showcased in advertisements, social media posts, videos, and the website. Responsibilities also include working with the graphic designers and videographers in helping design projects. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere or iMovie is required. Knowledge in Adobe Animator or Maya is recommended, but not required. Click here to view required application materials for the Animator position.

  • Creative Strategist

    The Creative Strategist, alongside the Director of Media and Marketing under the Media and Marketing team, will ensure an active social media presence on all of TEDxCUNY’s platforms. This includes assisting with the development of TEDxCUNY’s brand and with the creation of promotional materials and campaigns.   • Director of Budgeting and Finance

    The Director of Budgeting and Finance will develop a yearly conference budget and keep track of all expenditures and grants. Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to developing strategies to encourage new or increased contributions, securing commitments of participation or donation from individuals or corporate donors, and recruiting sponsors, participants, or volunteers for fundraising events.   • Video/Photography {Videographers}

    Videographers will work with the Director of Video and Photography and will be responsible for pre-event, event, and post-event photography and videography. Specific responsibilities include documenting the event planning process, capturing videos/photographs for promotional purposes, and editing video content of the talks. Additionally, candidates should be comfortable communicating with professional filmmakers and camera operators. Candidates should be fluent with, or willing to learn, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and/or similar programs. Candidates should also be fluent with the use of a DSLR camera, and have their own cameras. Click here to view required application materials for the Videographer position.

TEDxCUNY was formed in July 2013 out of the strong belief that a public academic institution as large and as diverse as the City University of New York not only deserved, but needed a platform for spreading ideas and discussion. The team received its license on July 26th, 2014 and has since become an annual CUNY event gathering students, faculty, staff, affiliates, and the broader public for a day of idea-sharing.

With CUNY’s 530,000+ students enrolled in 24 institutions, TEDxCUNY is representationally the largest TEDx University event in the country. It is also the first public university TEDx conference in New York City, as well as the first TEDx event in the country to represent multiple campuses.
